On Sunday 15 October 2023, in Bagnaria, in Oltrepò Pavese, the Municipality, in collaboration with the local Pro Loco, is organising the 40th Apple Day. The day will be inaugurated at 11 am by Mayor Mattia Franza in the presence of the authorities.
This year's event represents a very important historical milestone, as it is the 40th edition of this event for one of the most important products of the town. The event includes the sale of apples, a typical product to which the event is dedicated, by local producers at the fruit and vegetable market in Piazza A. Moro in Bagnaria. Visitors who buy the delicious and tasty fruit at the Fruit and Vegetable Market will receive coupons for an apple prize draw.
The draw will take place at 6 p.m. In addition to the exhibitors, a market will be set up in the immediate vicinity of the Fruit and Vegetable Market throughout the day with typical local food and wine products and various other goods, while the local Pro Loco will set up a refreshment stand at lunchtime, all accompanied by live music throughout the afternoon.
Among the most popular varieties in the area are the classic white Golden, the red Stark, Renetta, Annurca, Fuji, Champagne and Granny Smith.
During the day, thanks to the collaboration of the Calyx Nature Association, it will be possible to take part in the historical-naturalistic itinerary "Il Tempo delle Mele" (The Time of the Apples) to discover the area of Bagnaria and its fruit cultivation. For the little ones there will be a pony baptism and inflatable games throughout the day.
Over the years, this event has increasingly taken on the prerogative of promoting the local tradition, not only the apple product, which together with the cherry is the niche product of our municipality, but also all the typical local products, in synergy with the local producers.
