Every year on Shrove Saturday, Cegni, a hamlet of Santa Margherita Staffora, celebrates carnival according to an ancient tradition. The protagonist is the "poor woman". The participants gather at her house to take part in the procession that winds through the streets of the village, accompanied by music and traditional dances. One of the most awaited moments is the dance that accompanies the wedding of the "ugly" and the "poor". The festival ends with a dinner based on typical local dishes.
