An enchanting land where nature manifests itself in all its splendour, offering visitors the chance to immerse themselves in a unique experience among mountains, lakes and a rich biodiversity. The Val Tidone is an enchanted valley where time seems to stand still and where man and nature live in perfect harmony.

Mount Penice
Among the green hills of the valley rises the imposing Mount Penice. At 1460 metres above sea level, it is the highest peak and the Tidone stream flows down its slopes. The top of Mount Penice marks the border between the Trebbia Valley and the Staffora Valley, two different areas united by an uncontaminated nature. It is between these two areas that one of the most suggestive corners of the valley can be found: Lake Trebecco, which rises from the Molato dam.

A treasure trove of parks and protected areas
The Dal Verme Castle Park is a 79-hectare oasis surrounding the majestic Zavattarello Castle. A place where nature and history intertwine.
At a higher altitude, 950 metres above sea level, is the Pietra Corva Botanical Garden. Founded in 1967 by Antonio Ridella, a passionate veterinarian and naturalist, the garden is a precious collection of plants from all over the world.
The Castello di Verde Park, on the other hand, is a magical and mysterious place: a vast 330-hectare forest stretching between the Tidone and Nizza valleys. Inside, among the remains of an ancient medieval castle, is the Giardino delle Farfalle (Butterfly Garden), an enchanted paradise for rare lepidopterans, studied and preserved thanks to the collaboration with the University of Pavia.

Jewels to discover
In the heart of the quiet village of Romagnese, amidst the folds of time and historical events, stands a castle, the work of the powerful Dal Verme family, built between the 14th and 15th centuries. Its rooms now house a museum of rural art and the offices of the municipality of Romagnese.
The dense network of historical events that have marked the history of Val Tidone also led to the construction of another important fortress: the Castle of Zavattarello. Since 1390 it has been owned by the Dal Verme family, who have preserved its splendour and beauty from generation to generation. In 1975 the family donated the castle to the Municipality, which restored it and turned it into a place for visits, cultural events and exhibitions.
