Lake Trebecco: walks through woods, meadows and villages via Zavattarello

The artificial lake of Trebecco, on the border between Zavattarello and the province of Piacenza, is created by the imposing concrete barrage of the Molato dam, a true symbol of the Tidone Valley, a good 55 metres high.

A majestic dam of great historical and architectural value

The dam was built in the late 1920s to harness the energy of the water flowing down the river and, at the same time, to have a reserve of water for agriculture. An expression of the twenty-year fascist period, its historical and architectural value made it an attractive destination.

Discovering the nature of the lake

Also attracting tourists are the many nature trails that surround the artificial lake and have made it a popular tourist stop where many sports activities, walks and picnics can be enjoyed along its shores. The lake is frequented by fishermen, water sports enthusiasts and bikers who enjoy themselves along the Tidone path: 68 km of trails, following the course of the stream, leading from the hills to the plains.

Walks through woods, meadows and villages

A pleasant walk can start from the path that runs along the right bank of the lake, at the foot of Mount Bissolo. Climbing up, you arrive at Trebecco and then, after a stretch of meadows and woods in green Zavattarello, you reach the historic hamlet of San Silverio, which houses an ancient 15th-century oratory.
