The Municipality of Colli Verdi was born in 2019 from the merger of the Municipalities of Canevino, Ruino and Valverde. Three areas that have brought with them stories, traditions and even miracles. Starting from the ancient village of Canevino, included in the Way of the Abbots, whose name appears for the first time in 949.
The village is situated in a panoramic position on a wooded hill dominating the Versa Valley, and it was here, during the passage of the relics of Saint Columbanus, carried in procession from Bobbio to Pavia by King Hugo, that a miracle took place: a mute boy regained his speech as the procession passed by.

The sanctuary
The Sanctuary of Montelungo, in Ruino, whose origins date back to the time of Charlemagne, was also built, according to popular tradition, to commemorate the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to a deaf-mute girl. After a miraculous healing, she was asked to build a church.
Valverde, in the high hills of the Oltrepò Pavese area, between the sources of the Versa and Scuropasso streams, does not boast miracles, but a history of more than 2500 years testified by archaeological finds dating back to the Iron Age.

History
History has therefore left the Colli Verdi area with very important testimonies, including religious buildings and castles. A land with an extraordinary natural heritage, where every road leads to a unique landscape. But it is also a land of taste, in the heart of the white grape growing areas for the production of Moscato, Riesling, Pinot and the production of Salame di Varzi DOP.
When you reach the hamlet of Caseo in Canevino, you enter a wood on foot, from where you can climb 133 steps to the church dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption, from whose cemetery you can enjoy a panorama that includes hills, plains and the Alps.
Ruino
Ruino, perched on a hill, is a destination to admire, in the hamlet of Torre degli Alberi, the castle of the Counts Dal Verme, surrounded by an unspoilt landscape. Nature reigns supreme, amidst lavender fields and mountain bike trails that lead to the highest point of the village, 620 metres above sea level, where there is a huge bench with a breathtaking view of the Pavia hills.

The Butterfly Garden in the park of Valverde Castle has a magical and enchanting atmosphere. It is also home to the first wellness apiary in Lombardy, where you can breathe in the scents of the beehive and listen to the bees at work.
