Since the end of the 19th century, peace has reigned in the shadow of Salice Terme Park.

The Terme di Salice Park is an enchanting place, a perfect combination of natural beauty and rich thermal history. Although the thermal baths are currently closed, the park is open to the public and offers an atmosphere of serenity and tranquillity. Among the illustrious visitors who have spent moments of inspiration here is the poet Ada Negri, who often sought refuge in this evocative place. Along the tree-lined avenues you could meet nobles, politicians, artists and writers. You could cross paths with Tommaso Marinetti and Marta Abba, who tore Luigi Pirandello's hear

Exploring the park

The park of Terme di Salice covers an area of wide meadows, ancient trees and flower gardens: an idyllic setting for a pleasant walk. A place to enjoy the tranquillity of a day in Oltrepò Pavese, strolling along the well-maintained paths, relaxing on a bench or sitting on the grass. A regenerating break from everyday life.

Ada Negri and the Park

The Park had a great influence on the life and work of the poet Ada Negri. During her stays in Salice Terme, Ada Negri found inspiration in the beauty of the park and the tranquillity that surrounded it. The poet spent moments of meditation and writing among the secular trees (the "Ada Negri oak" is still famous today) and the evocative corners of the park, creating verses that reflected her deep connection with nature and the emotions the park aroused in her. Her poems, full of feelings and images of nature, captured the attention of her readers.

A chance to relax

Not only relaxation, but also fun. In addition to peaceful walks, the Salice Terme Park offers many opportunities for leisure and relaxation: swimming pools, tennis courts, golf and an adventure trail for young and old. There are also picnic areas where you can enjoy a pleasant lunch with friends surrounded by nature.

The park and its history

The park we can admire today was created at the end of the 19th century with the planting of over 20,000 trees and a series of avenues: Viale degli Olmi, dei Pini, degli Abeti and dei Cedri. Fortunately Salice escaped the sad experience of bombing, but in 1943 it was occupied by the Germans. The park was violated: anti-tank pits were dug, machine guns and anti-aircraft guns were placed and many plants were cut down. After the Germans were driven out, Salice was chosen as a base for an Indian regiment commanded by British officers, who stayed there until the summer of 1946.

The heritage of the Grand Hotel of Salice Terme

The Grand Hotel of Salice Terme, inside the Park, although currently closed, has a fascinating history. This historic luxury hotel was in fact an important destination for high society, intellectuals and artists who travelled to Salice to enjoy the thermal waters and the exclusive atmosphere that the hotel offered. Luxury, peace and privacy attracted personalities such as the famous Vittorio Gassman, the actors Aldo Fabrizi and Bice Valori, the singers Caterina Caselli, Rochy Roberts and Ornella Vanoni. Not to mention the charming Lola Falana and the great cyclist Fausto Coppi.

The legacy of the Grand Hotel in Salice Terme is the charm and curiosity it still evokes in its famous guests of the past. A symbol of elegance and luxury in the history of Salice Terme. With its spacious halls, over 200 rooms, marble staircases, tapestries and refined details, the hotel was a symbol of elegance and prestige.
